Master Nolte has combined Martial Arts training for Sport, Self Defense, Leadership, Fitness and Discipline together to make KISDS. The system includes disciplines such as Sport Karate (competitive Sparring, Weapon, and Kata), along with traditional training in Tae Kwon Do, Judu, and Small Circle JiuJitsu from the Modern Arnis. The Self Defense tactics derive from various systems of Modern Arnis, Krav Maga, Karate and JiuJitsu.
KISDS is a Black Belt Program. KISDS is offered 3 days a week. The curriculum is divided into sections where Traditional and Basics are taught 1 day and Self Defense and Fighting is offered another. Students training on Saturday receive a re-cap of the weeks lessons plus Sparring training. Saturday students may also stay after class for Open Mat training.
KISDS
is a Family Class, students ages 6 and up may train
together. You will find mothers and daughters training
together, father and sons, entire families and siblings.
KISDS is a family environment. The curriculum is shared
on a rotation where together everyone can accomplish
more. Here at Sidekicks, our Karate program aims to
support principles, for example: a Block means
Discipline, a Bow means respect and courtesy, attention
means self control, etc. Students have the opportunity
and are encouraged to read leadership material such as
The 8TH Habit, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
and Teens by Stephen and Sean Covey, Good to Great by
Jim Collins, and Flawless Execution by James Murphy.
These and other leadership books and standards are
encouraged and recognition and patches are awarded to
students when tasks are complete. Just as an Eagle Scout
will earn merit badges for completing tasks and
accomplishing goals so do our students. A Black Belt is
a long term goal with many intermediary goals short,
medium, and long range along the way that we are setting
and working on daily.
”Sidekicks Martial Arts” is a Black
Belt School. To many people, a Black Belt may be the
immediate desire; however, becoming a "Black Belt"
leader is the ultimate result of a process at University
of Sidekicks Martial Arts.
Goal Setting, Respect, and
Self-esteem go hand in hand along with learning how to
punch, kick, and block, disciplines of Martial Arts are
fundamentals of Life!
Is offered as an Upgrade Program to compliment and further your skills, knowledge and fun in Martial Arts and weaponry. Our Karate Extreme Program teaches various Martial Arts weapons training, forms, drills, and application in weaponry such as Nunchaku, Sword, Kama, Sai, Bo-Staff, Balisong and more. Karate Extreme is offered each Tuesday & Thursday from 4:15-5:00PM. A full Gi is worn, no shoes on the mat for this class and ages range from 8 to adult. This Program is taught in rotations throughout the year focusing on The Nunchaku for up to 2.5 months for example.
The International Modern Arnis Federation was founded by the late Grandmaster Remy Amador Presas. The Modern Arnis practitioner will learn (1) self-discovery and self-control, (2) achieve personal excellence, and (3) gain self-mastery, in the face of life's daily uncertainties, challenges, and opportunities. Training covers empty-hand self-defense (striking, locking, throwing, etc.) as well as the trademark single and double stick techniques of the Filipino martial arts. Other aspects of the art include espada y daga (sword and dagger fighting), sinawali (double stick weaving patterns), and tapi-tapi (locking drills with the stick). In addition to partner drills, Modern Arnis includes the use of anyo (kata), solo forms both with and without the stick. Emphasis is placed on fitting the art in with a student's previous training ("the art within your art"), smoothly reacting to changing situations in the fight ("the flow"), and countering the opponent's attempt to counter strikes directed at him ("tapi-tapi"). Practitioners are called arnisadors or Modern Arnis players.
Modern Arnis is a large part of our KISDS system as well as we offer and conduct special classes, private lessons, seminars and workshops. Master Nolte is a Certified IMAF Instructor and Licensed School. Master Nolte trained under the Professor before he passed. Currently her mentors in Modern Arnis are Master of Tapi-Tapi Dr. Randi Schea, Datu Shishir Inocalla, and Master Earl Tullis.

stronger and work towards black belt.”

also put it to use and made new friends. Thank you for helping
me to be a better person.”

“I really enjoy training here, it’s helping me learn something
that might save my life someday. I’ve been able to get a good
physical condition and it helps me concentrate on other things.
It’s really fun and I hope I will make it further in my
training.”
-A. Ruiz, Karate Student
“Karate has helped me become more physically fit. I love the
self-defense aspect of KISDS and the fact that Master Nolte
incorporates techniques from other styles into her curriculum.
Training is so much fun and a great stress reliever.”
-TAMU Student
“When I started my training in Karate five months ago, my goals
were fairly simple: first, to learn what my children were being
taught, so that I could help my children as they learn a new
discipline; and second, to get into better physical condition.
However, after three weeks of training, I realized that my
participation in Karate was evolving and I am achieving many
more goals than I had ever expected.”
-Q. Wall, Karate Student
